Paid WhatsApp and other rumors

Post by asimd23 »

On WhatsApp , as previously happened with email and instant messaging services such as Hotmail or Windows Messenger , there are various urban legends and chain messages circulating announcing its future closure or the start of a paid service . As expected, they are false .

First of all: Whatsapp is a paid germany business fax list application . Very cheap , yes, but it is paid. Specifically, it costs 0.79 euros to download for iPhone (the app cannot be used on iPad or iPod ), while it is free for Android , BlackBerry OS , Windows Phone and Symbian . However, on these operating systems the service costs 0.99 dollars per year after the trial period , which lasts one year.
In addition, of course, you have to take into account the connection costs , whether to WiFi or 3G networks , although these do not depend directly on Whatsapp .
However, the rest is a lie . There is no premium service , no overload on the servers, no inactive users whose maintenance is too expensive (in any case, it would be the opposite), and the icon will not change color when sending a message. That is what the company says .

The 'double check'
Another myth about this popular messaging service is the “ double check ” – the marks that appear next to messages and indicate their status . Thus, a green check means that it has been sent correctly to the server .
And two? Well, contrary to what many users think, it does not mean that the message has been read , but that it has been “ delivered correctly to the recipient’s device ”, as the company explains in its FAQ . In this sense, information about a user’s last connection , or whether they are online
, is also often misleading . Again, an answer can be found among the most frequently asked questions : “This time simply indicates the status of the device’s network connection and not whether the application is actively in use .” In addition, they remind us that Android and BlackBerry phones will automatically reconnect when receiving a new message, even when they are not being used .
